The flat brush is one of the most versatile tools for a calligrapher, offering unique characteristics and flexibility that a broad edged nib cannot. In this class, Sachin Shah guides us through leveraging and mastering this tool for a variety of scripts.
- Understand the behavior of a flat brush including techniques to hold and maneuver
- Exercises to strengthen the foundational strokes used in many letterforms
- Detailed analysis of angle, pressure, and line weight created by the flat brush
- An exploration of various broad edge alphabets using the flat brush – Black Letter, Neuland, Uncial and many more
